I am color blind. Which is why I try to simplify the financial world – too many color-coded charts and graphs!
Landscape architect. It is really satisfying to design a plan to improve something, and then be the one who gets dirty implementing it. There is something great in seeing the plan grow and mature and take shape over time. Also, great to leave things a little better and nicer than you found them.
A carpenter. During summers in high school and college I worked with a friend’s uncle doing rough carpentry for custom homes in the greater Detroit, MI area. I loved being a small part of putting something together, working as a team, and the feeling of accomplishment each week. As time went on I came to really appreciate how hard they worked, the toll the job took on their bodies, and how tough it was working through Michigan winters. Their hard work kept me motivated throughout college.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Like many kids, I dreamed of becoming a professional athlete playing for the Detroit Lions or Detroit Red Wings. Around high school, I realized the skill gap from the kids on the professional path.
