Are you a fiduciary? If so, what does that mean to me?

  

Yes, we are a fiduciary. This means we are obligated to put your interests above our own. We act with undivided loyalty to our clients by disclosing all aspects of our relationship and if there are any potential conflicts of interest.

 

What services do you provide and what are the costs associated with these services?

  

We offer comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and personal guidance services. As a fee-only firm, our compensation comes solely from our clients. These fees are calculated based on the assets we manage on behalf of our clients. Our fees are paid quarterly and cover all of the services we provide.

 

How often would I communicate or meet with my advisor?

  

The answer is as often or as little as you’d like. We like to customize our frequency of meetings based on what’s happening in our clients' lives. If there is an important milestone coming up, such as heading into retirement, we are likely to meet more often. Otherwise, we’ll typically meet twice a year in person, or for those of you who spend winters outside of New England, virtually.

With so many advisors in the marketplace how do you know which one is right for you?  We are a face-to-face, one-on-one, fiduciary advisor and our professionals have vast experience.  We get to know know you, your goals, your needs and your wants.  We are not a website with a call center and standard solutions or model portfolios.  Everything we do is customized to our client, from the plan to the investments, to our frequent guidance and interactions.

 

What should I expect to learn from Charter Oak's financial planning process?

  

We offer a complimentary financial plan preparation to qualified prospective clients. This is typically a three meeting process and gives you the opportunity to see how we work. It is simply a chance to test the waters. You will receive a comprehensive customized financial plan. If you like your experience, you can then decide to hire us. Whether we choose to work together or not, you will have an actionable financial plan.
